This Online Fashion Portfolio Preparation Course will give you a chance to create a physical/hard copy body of work and provide an introduction to aspects of fashion studies, such as Visual research, experimentation, mood boards, sketchbooks , ideas development, drawing and presentation skills. You will learn to reflect on and critique the work of yourself and others. Suitable for those wanting to develop their creativity for fun, beginners who wish to start building a portfolio of work, as well as those wanting to build on prior experience in fashion (or art & design) to develop an existing portfolio with a fashion focus for use in applications for further study. You will leave the course with additional portfolio work and an insight into how to develop and edit your portfolio content further.
Teaching is conducted remotely using videos and face to face teaching via the Microsoft Teams forum. You will be able to develop your skills by engaging with suitable projects determined by your existing level of development in discussion with the tutor. Teaching is both as a whole class and an individual, one-to-one basis using demonstrations, discussion, examples, samples, handouts and other technical support material where appropriate. You will be able to negotiate individual learning goals with the tutor. You will be introduced to relevant websites & books to support your learning. There will be an emphasis on sharing knowledge through group discussion enabling you to reflect on and critique the work of yourself and others.
This is a Beginners and intermediate course. This course is for those who wish to do this for fun and those with some prior experience looking to improve their prospects of employment through progression onto formal education and employment. Enthusiasm and interest in the subject essential. You must be able to speak, write and read English.
For those wishing to use the course to create initial portfolio content in order to progress to further study, or employment (e.g. internships), it is essential to spend time outside college & after the course ends, working on projects set. Progression to further courses is recommended in this case, see suggested courses below. This is an Online Course requiring: PC or Laptop or Tablet - Android or IOS(Apple)With webcam & microphone. An up-to-date internet browser installed. A good broadband connection is also recommended. (Mobile data 3G/4G or a mobile dongle might not provide sufficient bandwidth). To access Teams: you will need to either login to office.com with your Morley email and password (available when you enrol) and select teams. Or download the teams app via: Desktop - https://products.office.com/en-us/microsoft-teams/download-app Android - search the Play store for Microsoft Teams IOS - search the App store for Microsoft Teams When you launch Teams App you will need to login with your Morley email and password. Equipment will be discussed in the first session:•A portfolio (types of portfolio will be discussed)•Fashion Magazines (a list will be supplied)•mechanical pencil, pencils, sharpener, eraser, ruler•Pritt stick, Blu tack.•A3 wire bound sketch book thick paper, A4 folder for handouts•colour media (e.g. coloured Inks /water colour/gouache & brushes, pastels, marker pens .NB: there is no need to buy in advance .This will be discussed in the 1st lesson)•notepad and pen•Propelling pencil HB•0.1 fibre tip technical drawing pen•0.5 fibre tip technical drawing pen•NB: Access to a printer:You will need to print out images of fashion and non-fashion images which are inspirational.
