What you will learn

Unlock your imagination and explore experimental approaches to painting. Be inspired by music, poetry, stories and other artworks in practical exercises and projects. Use a range of different methods and materials including paint, collage and mixed media to visualise your creative ideas. Work from both observation and the Imagination. All levels and abilities welcome.

  • Create paintings from observation using each media separately

    This is a practical course, and you will spend most of class time painting. The course focusses on painting from direct observation, photographs, imagination, using a variety of materials and techniques. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    You may need to purchase your own additional materials as advised by your tutor. We provide materials for onsite students at a cost-effective price.

    What you need

    It would be useful to have a sketchbook/paper, pencils, pens, black fluid drawing ink or Indian ink. You will need to have your own Watercolour paints. You will need a palette of some kind to mix your watercolours. You can order these materials online from shops such as Cass art, Jacksons art supplies or Great Art supplies. Other materials needed will be advised during the course.
