What you will learn

Improve your hand and foot techniques and the complexity of your rhythmic and ensemble skills while exploring a range of drumming styles. Suitable for players with one year's experience.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Reinforce and apply your Timekeeping skills with and without a click/backing track
  • Apply relevant techniques to different/specific contemporary music/drumming styles
  • Differentiate a diverse range of contemporary music styles in which the Drum Kit is played
  • Develop Chart reading skills
  • Perform adequately, confidently and with consistency within a given style
  • Perform in front of the class

  • Class format and activities

    Follow verbal instructions and practical demonstrations, work and practise as part of the group and individually and perform in front of the class. Your input and participation in discussions and Q&A sessions is very important in order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

    Entry requirements

    Participants are required to have attended Level 1, levels 2A and 2B and/or: Be able to play Crotchets, Quavers, Triplets and Semiquavers based grooves on the Drum kit. Have some knowledge of basic music notation elements.

    What you need to know before you enrol

    A regular practice routine is essential to keep up with the course and get the most out of it. Due to the nature of the instrument/contents of the course you might be exposed to high volume levels. We strongly encourage everyone to bring a pair of ear plugs to every lesson.
