What you will learn
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand how the novel has developed over time
- Identify different genres such as crime, science fiction, romance, magical realism
- Discuss your opinions with other students
- Write a review or give a short talk about a favourite novel or author
Class format and activities
The focus is on discussion. You will be sent a reading list before the course starts but each week will focus on an extract from one work. Students will be invited to write a review or give a talk on a novel of their choice.

There are no set entry requirements apart from an interest in literature and a willingness to share ideas.
