A practical introduction and exploration of drawing and mark-making techniques using a range of materials. You will be taught various aspects of observational drawing including proportion, perspective, line and tone, as well as continued exploration of mark-making techniques. Examples of historical and contemporary drawing will be discussed in class and Learners are encouraged to develop a personal response to observed subjects including inanimate objects or everyday items, landscape, portraits, and photographic images. We encourage you to develop your own style and expression of drawing.
This is a practical course, and you will spend most of your class time drawing. The course focuses on drawing from direct observation and from photographs, using a variety of materials and techniques. To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
This structured course is for beginners and for those who want to refresh skills.
