What you will learn

Still stuck in the 'Auto' mode on your camera? Want to take better pictures? Taught by a professional photographer - this course is for beginners who own a Digital Camera and want to learn more of its functions. Learn how to operate your camera in manual mode, make correct exposures in a range of situations and understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus and more. This course will give you creative control over your camera thereby encouraging you to take photographs with intention, rather than letting the camera do all the work. Share your photographs with others and give and receive constructive feedback to aid your progress. This enjoyable, creative course will increase your confidence and you will soon see your skills - and your photographs - improving.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand how a DSLR camera works
  • Choose the right shooting mode and camera settings for particular shooting situations
  • Make good use of different focal lengths and understand different functions of lenses
  • Understand the 'exposure triangle' and how it relates to different lighting conditions
  • Expose images correctly using semi-automatic or priority modes
  • Understand and experiment with the aperture, shutter speed and ISO controls for special effects
  • Work on computers to practice image post-production techniques
