Explore three-dimensional metalworking using the technique of curved score folding on this three day course. Learn to shape wire and a few methods of using it to score sheet metal to create some unique pieces of jewellery. Suitable for all levels.
After looking at and discussing examples and samples, the tutor will demonstrate scoring and folding techniques over the four days. These will then be practiced with help and guidance from the tutor. Students will make samples of the techniques from base metals, which will be supplied by the college
The course is suitable for complete beginners and more experienced jewellers who want to try out new ideas.
The jewellery studio is on the 3rd floor of the main building, there is lift access. You need a moderate level of fitness to be able to use jewellery equipment. Some chemicals used may be harmful in pregnancy. Please let the tutor know if you are pregnant and they will advise you as to necessary precautions.
It would be helpful to bring: notebook and pen. Optional: Sterling silver sheet - 0.5 mm thick, size will depend on what you are making. The course provides an excellent start to jewellery making or a refresher or taster of new techniques. You could continue on to beginner, intermediate or advanced jewellery making classes at Morley College.
