After our warm up, we focus on a variety of basic Cuban steps to build up our repertoire in Salsa, Son, Cha Cha, Mambo and Afro-Cuban. We build up technique in how to move arms, shoulders and rip cache, as well as coordination of steps. Each week we will extend our set Cuban Cabaret routines accompanied with authentic Cuban songs until polished and ready for presentation. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor. In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning.
It will be of advantage to have some knowledge in either basic Salsa steps, other , Cuban Rhythms, Ballroom or general knowledge of Jazz / Contemporary Dance.
Some previous experience in dance will be an advantage. Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required from all students. This course may include some completion of activities outside of class time.
Bring a bottle of water. Jazz shoes or soft-soled shoes with a small heel will improve styling. Please feel free to ask the teacher for advice. , Boots and thick soled trainers are not suitable. Clothing should allow free movement, as this is an energetic class.
