Thursday
There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
Continuing from last term, we will explore different ways of making books, including long-stitch binding, variations of concertina books and making a slipcase. We will also have an element of printmaking which can be used for book covers, endpapers or content of the books. This course is suitable for continuing students but also for complete beginners as all projects are standalone and do not depend on having attended the previous term.
There will be demonstration, group discussion, one to one tuition and practical project work. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
No previous knowledge of bookbinding is required. This class is a great introduction to making books.
Health and Safety information will be given at the start of the course and in subsequent lessons wherever necessary. The studio is accessible via a lift and there is an adjustable height desk available.
Pencil, eraser, notebook for taking notes. We will discuss in the first session if there are any other tools and materials you may want to buy.
You can enrol on a number of other bookbinding or printmaking classes.
