What you will learn

Learn essential calligraphy techniques and drawn lettering using both nibs and brushes with inks and pigments. Produce artworks and three dimensional objects, cards, boxes, and single section books. A course suitable for all with an enthusiasm for lettering and calligraphic scripts.

    What you need to know before you enrol


    What you need

    Calligraphy materials will be discussed at the first lesson but it would be useful to bring pencils, a ruler and a notebook. Pen holders and nibs will be lent by the tutor for the first lesson.

    What you can do next

    The course is for 3 terms. At the end of each term you will be asked to fill in an evaluation form plus the tutors questionnaire and your own log book. Blank copies of both of these will be given out at the first lesson and hand outs of the worksheets will be given to you every week.There are several societies you can join who offer advice on calligraphic supplies and tuition such as CLAS, SSI, LETTER EXCHANGE. CLAS also run courses, 'Ladder of Progress', which can be sent by post for assessment.You can enrol at Morley for this course by phone 020 7450 1889 after 9.30 a.m Monday to Friday.
