What you will learn

Begin your teaching career or build on your current experience and knowledge with this accredited course designed to give you a broad foundation in teaching theory and practice. If you have a subject specialism and are looking to share this knowledge and experience as a teacher to adults, this course will give you the skills to progress to further study and to begin your teaching career. Achievement on your course will be measured by completion of assignment and a micro-teach. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.:progression to another course.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the principles of equality and diversity, inclusion and safeguarding that regulate and inform the teaching
  • Plan and deliver inclusive sessions
  • Select engaging learning resources
  • Use appropriate teaching methods
  • Identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback

Entry requirements

You will need maths and English at Level 2 or above.

What you need to know before you enrol

What you need

You will need computer and internet connection to participate in lesson and complete coursework. For the micro-teaching session attendance to the college is compulsory .

Class format and activities

Online sessions with limited face-to-face teaching. You will complete individual and group activities. Online platforms will be used to support your learning, i.e. Moodle and Microsoft Teams.
