What you will learn

Create a circular tapestry using a metal hoop or cardboard frame, experiment with materials and explore the possibilities of weaving in a circle

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Warp up a circular loom and practice various techniques to create raised and patterned surfaces within your weaving
  • Experiment with different materials to achieve a range of effects
  • Understand the possibilities of what can be achieved with your circular loom
  • Have a small tapestry to take home or carry on with

Class format and activities

We will warp up a circular loom and explore various methods and techniques to help you get the most out of your frame, we will experiment with a range of materials and you will be welcome to bring in any materials of your own choice to work with

Entry requirements

This is a good course for anyone interested in tapestry and weaving as no experience or knowledge of tapestry is required, beginners welcome.

What you need to know before you enrol

The Textile Studio is on the second floor of the Nancy Sear Building. There is partial disabled access via a lift to the first floor and a stair lift to the second. Please contact ALS on: 0207 450 1972 or Art & Design Admin on: 0207 450 1934 before enrolling if you have any mobility support needs

What you need

Everything is provided unless you have any particular materials you want to use. A small charge may be made for hoops and frames.
