What you will learn

You will gain the CACHE L2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce. You will study how children develop and learn and how you can support them. You will put your learning into practice when you attend a work experience placement in an early years setting. Achievement on your course will be measured by completion of assignments and a work placement. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e.:progression to another course.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the different aspects of child development
  • Understand the relevant safeguarding issues for Childcare settings
  • Support and develop positive behaviour in children
  • Understand and apply Health and Safety regulations
  • Use different strategies to improve children's communication and literacy skills
  • Work confidently in a Childcare setting

On successful completion of the course, you will achieve the following qualification: Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner [NCFE]

Class format and activities

You will participate in class discussions and complete individual and group activities.

Entry requirements

You will need Maths and English at Level 2 or above.

What you need to know before you enrol

Excellent attendance of 90% and above is required from all students. You must find a placement for your course and and complete 12 hours of placement a week. You will be required to complete homework for your portfolio which will include assignment writing and reflection logs.

What you need

You will need access to a computer and internet connection to complete coursework. Online platforms will be used to support your learning, i.e. Moodle.
