What you will learn

This course is for those who are not yet ready for an accredited Level 2 course. You will learn how to research the relevant theorists in Child development and how this relates to the EYFS and National Curriculum. Break down assignments into manageable chunks and become comfortable with the requirements of a nursery or school practitioner. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals / progression.

    You will be working independently and in groups. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor.

    Entry requirements

    You will be working at a minimum of Level 1 and you will usually have either a Level 1 in Award in Working with Children or Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools.

    What you can do next

    On completion of this course, you can progress onto the Level 2 in Childcare or Teaching Assistant. You will need a placement and DBS check.
