Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Talk about literature, using some key terms (genre, plot, characterisation)
  • Explore opinions about books
  • Weeks 1-2: Purple Hibiscus: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
  • Weeks 3-5: Brave New World: Aldous Huxley
  • Weeks 6-8: East of Acre Lane: Alex Wheatle
  • Weeks 9-11: Brick Lane: Monica Ali

    Students will need to have read the book before the lesson and come to classes prepared to share ideas. The tutor will use students' ideas to generate debate.
