Throughout the course students will gain experience in the use of materials including adhesives, papers and cloths. It will help you understand practical differences between the sewing techniques. The course provides all the support you need to master the basics of bookbinding. The class will be a mixture of demonstrations and practical exercises. You will be taught about how to handle tools, equipment and bookbinding materials with confidence.

Throughout the course students will gain experience in the use of materials including adhesives, papers and cloths. It will help you understand practical differences between the sewing techniques. The course provides all the support you need to master the basics of bookbinding. The class will be a mixture of demonstrations and practical exercises. You will be taught about how to handle tools, equipment and bookbinding materials with confidence.

    Entry requirements

    No. This course is suitable for beginners or as a refresher if you have done some bookbinding before. It is ideal for people who have an interest in arts and crafts and would like to gain good hand skills in bookbinding.

    What you need

    Pencil, rubber, ruler, bone folder, scissors, awl, cutting mat, cutter/scalpel, craft knife/shoe knife, paper for textblock, decorative paper, bookcloth, linen thread, needle, glue brush/any flat art-brush, glue (bookbinding PVA recommended), waste paper.
