What you will learn

Social dancing is back in fashion so come and learn advanced movements to some of the Ballroom and Latin styles - as seen on TV. You’ll learn not only steps but also coordination, and timing, while making new friends, becoming fitter and more confident. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the following learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals e.g. progression to an advanced course in styles not yet covered.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • demonstrate new figures in quickstep, rumba, and paso doble individually and in relation to a partner. The work covered will vary according to the nature of the student group but it will range from ISTD Bronze to Gold star syllabus level
  • demonstrate good technique i.e. dance in time to the music and employing the correct timing, feet positions, footwork, alignment, amounts of turn, rise and fall, hip action, relationship to partner, lead (if leader) or follow (if follower) action
