Unlock your imagination and explore experimental approaches to drawing and painting using music as a source of inspiration. Increase understanding of how other artists use music to extend their use of visual language. Develop new skills through a range of approaches in practical exercises and projects. Use a range of different methods and materials including drawing, paint, and mixed media to visualise your creative ideas. Work from both observation and the imagination. All levels and abilities welcome.
Working on practical projects with tutor support, you will be given demonstrations such as drawing and paint handling, individual tuition, handouts and visual aids, and there will be regular group reviews and discussions. This will be introduced by several short talks with examples of artists who have used music as a source of inspiration in art.
The course is open to beginners but is suitable for all levels
This course is delivered in Morley College Waterloo and is served by a lift
Drawing Paper for the session, a tear off palette, paper towel and a water container will be provided at your work station. A list of the materials needed for each week will be provided at the start of the course. You will be using: charcoal, pencils, inks, pastels, wax crayons, acrylic paint, brushes, sponges and will need your own drawing board clips and/or masking tape. Additional materials will be needed for specific projects e.g. collage papers and objects, textural material After the first two classes, to bring a phone or device that plays music of your choice with headphones.
Continue Art and Music classes. Progress to Art & Design Foundation/ Access Programme, Higher Education or Advanced Painting and Drawing courses, as appropriate. Other visual arts courses.
