What you will learn

You will further develop and consolidate your language skills and confidence. You will build up your speaking skills and will learn to express plans and opinions in a range of everyday situations (e.g. shopping, using services, and expressing likes and dislikes) and develop the skills to get your message across. This course is suitable for those wishing to consolidate their knowledge of the basics of the language.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Communicate in everyday situations e.g. express likes and dislikes, talk about your favourite dish, describe things, and prices
  • Listen for the gist of a short conversation
  • Reading the restaurant menu and bill
  • Give basic information in writing, e.g. writing shopping list and the ingredients of your favourite dish

  • Class format and activities

    In class, students are encouraged to interact with each other using Arabic, practising the vocabulary and structures learnt in pairs or in small groups. Outside of the class, students are encouraged to revise what has been taught, so that progress may be made. The written activities will be mostly set as homework.

    Entry requirements

    We recommend that you complete Stage 1 Unit 2 at Morley College, or equivalent (approx. 40 hours of study) before enrolling for this course

    What you need to know before you enrol

    Excellent attendance and punctuality are required from all students. Regular work is given to be done at home to support and consolidate your learning. You should therefore dedicate about 2 hours as a self-study on a weekly basis.
