Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify ways to control the pitch and quality of your voice better
  • Sing exercises to help increase your vocal range and agility
  • Carry out exercises to improve sense of rhythm
  • Demonstrate how to listen to and blend with other voices and follow a conductor
  • Build confidence singing with or without accompaniment
  • Identify and describe features of the different songs covered in class

    This course includes a range of vocal warm up exercises that cover the very basics of vocal technique, such as breathing and clarity in vocal production. The tutor introduces and demonstrates a range of techniques and simple tunes to help you gain confidence in singing. You will not be asked to sing on your own - any student performances will be done as a group. Recordings of the vocal line and piano accompaniment for individual study, handouts & exercises eg.song lyrics and sheet music are provided by the tutor.

    None - just a willingness to draw pleasure from singing! Knowledge of vocal technique or music theory is not necessary at all.
