  • Class format and activities

The course takes the form of weekly masterclasses. You are invited to bring along your chosen repertoire of solo arias, songs or oratorio pieces, in consultation with the tutor. At the beginning of each session, the tutor allocates individual timeslots for everyone present. During these sessions, you are asked to perform your chosen repertoire with the tutor accompanying and coaching from the piano. Various elements may be explored including interpretation of the score, pronunciation of the text technical aspects etc. The rest of the group participates in peer feedback, questions and answers, and occasional group exercises. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor, alongside advice on further repertoire. There is an informal performance and final feedback session at the end of the term, and a simple video-recording will be made available for your personal use.
