There are other versions of this course available. We’ve listed them below and summarized the differences between the one that you are currently viewing.
For pianists of minimum Grade 8 standard, this course explores the vast piano repertoire through various styles and periods. This term we will focus in the romantic period and we will explore works by composers of this era (Chopin, Brahms, Schumann, etc.).
Each week 3-4 players will perform their chosen work from the romantic music piano repertoire. All students will be encouraged to participate in discussions about performance practice and to give suggestions in technical challenges as well as interpretation. Excellent attendance and punctuality is expected.
You should be playing the piano at minimum Grade 8 standard.
You should have access to an acoustic piano so that you can practise between the sessions. You should also budget about £15 for music scores. Music scores may also be available free online.
You will need to bring all the music scores performed in each class so that can participate in discussions. You should also keep a journal when you can make notes during the class.
