What you will learn

Rise to the challenge! Bring an exciting new performance to the stage. With a tight rehearsal schedule, the approaching nerves and thrill of the performance, are you ready? Working as a professional company, this year we will produce a fresh and inspiring version of The Resistible Rise of Arturo UI. If would like to audition for this production, please click the button above, or email admin@morleycollege.ac.uk Audition slots will be 20 minutes long and take place on Mondays 6th & 21st February and 13th March, between 6.30-9.30pm at the Waterloo Centre with tutor Dominic Grant. The production week will be w/c 1st July and you will need to be free for the following: Tuesday 2nd July: Tech Rehearsals from 9am – 5pm Wednesday 3rd July: Tech and Dress rehearsals from 9am – 5pm Thursday 4th July: Called from 3pm / Show at 7pm – 9.30pm Friday 5th July: Called from 5pm / Show at 7pm – 9.30pm

    This will take place in the Johnny Harris Studio theatre and adjacent rehearsal room WC11. Working in an environment that closely mirrors a professional theatre company, working on a full rehearsal of a production: examining text, playwright’s oeuvre and ‘voice’, rehearsing with the company director, including games, exercises and improvisation if and when appropriate. Performing in a public production. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor. The tutor will also set assessment activities involving student exchange of ideas and student self-assessment for all students.

    Entry requirements

    Due to the level and professional expectations in this course, entry is dependent on having suitable experience and/or previous acting studies. Auditions will be held on 7th & 21st February and 13th March to register your interest please email admin@morleycollege.ac.uk

    What you need to know before you enrol

    This course will set high expectations of its learners. Professionalism, an ability to work to timelines and the fitness, stamina & determination to see a project through will be essential. Excellent attendance and punctuality will be required from all students. This course will include some completion of activities outside of class time, e.g. preparation of favourite exercises to share with fellow students.   Study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning. Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.
