What you will learn

Do you want to learn how to use a computer but need to improve your English and Maths as well? This course will teach you basic computer skills for the home whilst you practise and learn English and Maths. You will need to be Entry 1 or Entry 2 English or ESOL.

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • Perform a simple search on the internet for a holiday
  • Create a simple document using microsoft word
  • Send and recieve an email
  • Locate relevant icons on the desktop
  • improve your skills with the mouse

Class format and activities

You will access your work through Moodle and work at your own pace on project work. You will supported by the tutor throughout and Maths and English will be supported at your individual level.

In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

Entry requirements

What you need to know before you enrol

You will sometimes need to access the internet outside of class times to complete homework. Computers are available in the library during college opening hours if needed.

You can progress onto an accredited IT course, onto Introduction to Office and Administration Skills Level 1 or an ESOL, English or Maths qualification at the appropriate level,
