Developing Your Poetry Writing
What you will learn
Read a variety of poems, follow intensive writing exercises, discuss poetic form and receive detailed criticism of your work from your peers and a published poet. For poets with some writing experience.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Be able to offer and receive constructive criticism in a writing workshop
- Understand more clearly the strengths and characteristics of your own writing
- Understand areas for further development
- Be able to use a variety of strategies for developing further your poem drafts.
Class format and activities
Group discussion, group and individual reading of model texts, individual writing, taking notes from verbal instruction.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
Previous attendance of Poetry Beginners or previous attendance of a poetry writing workshop or you have been writing poetry for two years or more.

Regular writing assignments are set, which rely on regular attendance.
