Rhythm Tap 2
What you will learn
Suitable for tap-dancers with a little experience, wanting to develop their skills beyond Beginner level and explore the new rhythms and techniques of rhythm tap: Rhythm Tap 2, an upbeat non-syllabus tap class, led by innovative tap company Sole Rebel Tap.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Demonstrate new tap movements and exercises clearly
- Explore the ability to change the rhythm, time signature or style of existing tap movements
- Develop a confidence to explore improvisation and musicality
- Perform a learned short combination
Class format and activities
Warm up in a circle to begin and learn new tap steps and exercises in the centre and travelling.
Practice existing tap exercises and finish by practising a short tap routine towards the end of the class, learned across the five weeks
In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning.
Dance study offers a range of benefits including being an enjoyable way to increase fitness whilst enhancing wellbeing. Dance practice at Morley can also serve to enhance skills relevant for employment by means of encouraging increased confidence, physical dexterity and concentration.
Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.
A good level of fitness. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health concerns or a history of injury, and inform your tutor of any physical activity you have been advised to avoid.
What you need to know before you enrol
A good level of fitness is required to be able to do the practical work. However adjustments will be made to the movements to meet particular physical or learning needs.
Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.
What you will need for your class
-Loose-fitting comfortable clothing for ease of movement
-Women are encouraged to wear a support bra
What you can do next
Continued development every half term through Rhythm Tap 2. Use Rhythm Tap 1 to continue to build the foundations of your practice. Try Rhythm Tap 3 for a challenge, for those who have tap-danced for at least three years or more. Ask your tutor in class for further advice on your level and course options.
