What you will learn

This 20 week programme is ideal for those who wish to go beyond mere snapping pictures in auto-mode to gain the necessary technical skills to produce a photographic image.
You will get to grips with the various functions of your DSLR such as aperture control, shutter speed, white balance. You will learn how to transform reality by using different focal lengths and how to improve the impact of your images through careful composition. All in all, through a series of demos, lectures, workshops and mini projects you will gain the confidence and understanding to use your camera in manual mode.
A crucial aspect of photography is lighting itself. A whole unit of this program is dedicated to studio practice and lighting control.
There is far more to photography that just operating a camera. In this course you will also develop your visual language by understanding how images communicate. You will do that by looking at the work of past and present photographers.

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • able to use you DSLR camera in manual mode
  • control lighting in a studio environment
