We welcome applications directly into year 2 of the HND from students who have successfully completed their Pearson HNC or HND year 1 at another institution. Evidence of achievement (in the form of a certificate) must be shown.
This course will give you a practical understanding of setting up and managing business projects, preparing financial statements and forecasts and creating marketing plans. You will learn how to develop individuals, teams and Organisations,as well as operations and project management, from tutors with professional experience in the sector, while benefiting from the College’s modern dedicated learning spaces.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- understand how businesses of all sizes interact with their stakeholders
- successfully set and manage your own business projects
- create a marketing plan and promote a product/service
- select, recruit, retain and develop staff
- prepare financial statements and forecasts to ensure financial stability and growth.
The HND in Business is delivered partly online. Therefore the teaching hours are 2.5 hours per unit per week. YEAR 1 units are delivered over 3 terms. Term 1, 3 units: 10 weeks teaching on Tuesdays (2.5 hours), Wednesdays (2.5 hours) and Thursdays (2.5 hours) The teaching is from 5pm to 7.30pm Term 2, 3 units: 10 weeks teaching on Tuesdays (2.5 hours), Wednesdays (2.5 hours) and Thursdays (2.5 hours) The teaching is from 5pm to 7.30pm Term 3, 2 units: 10 weeks teaching on Tuesdays (2.5 hours) and Wednesdays (2.5 hours) The teaching is from 5pm to 7.30pm Year 2 units are delivered over 3 terms. In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
If you have recently been in education it is likely that one of the following will provide a suitable entry profile: • a relevant level 3 qualification • a GCE profile that indicates strong performance in a relevant subject • an Access to Higher Education Certificate. IELTS 5.5 is required for non-native English speakers.
