Course Structure

Our higher education level 5 HND Ceramics course provides the opportunity for students to further develop their ceramic skill set and conceptual thinking. The second year of our two year diploma enables students to gain both excellent practical knowledge and advanced design skills to support future careers. Under the supervision of experienced Program Manager and Ceramicist Anna Silverton, and with a team of inspiring specialist tutors, students will develop hands-on experience within the context of ‘real-world’ design-focused assignments. At Morley our dedicated specialist ceramics, mould-making and design studios are equipped with the latest digital and practical facilities to enable students to explore emerging technologies and gain hands on knowledge of ceramic materials and techniques. We regularly invite established visiting artists and designers who introduce students to a range of innovative approaches and career possibilities. By the end of the course students will have an extensive portfolio and will benefit from a launch at ‘New Designers’ and an exhibition in the Morley Gallery space to exhibit their final major project and launch a sustainable career.

Previous students have gone on to set up their own ceramic practice and have taken part in other design shows and exhibitions including 100% design part of London Design Festival.

Our small group sizes ensure maximum learning for each student and maximum contact time with tutors. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor in a constructive and supportive environment as well as specialist technician support and group critiques.
