What you will learn

Advanced Level Tap dance in performance: working towards the end of term Advanced Dance Performance.
Suitable for experienced tap-dancers who have established higher level skills in the rhythms and techniques of rhythm tap, via RT3 and in higher level classes elsewhere, and wish to progress further. Rhythm Tap 4, an advanced-level upbeat non-syllabus tap class, led by innovative tap company Sole Rebel Tap, embellishing tap, rhythm, musicality and performance techniques.

(No class 19th or 26th February 2020)

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • Demonstrate new complex tap steps and combinations
  • Demonstrate a confidence to explore improvisation and musicality
  • Demonstrate a learned choreography independently
  • Develop performance techniques through cross-art collaboration and opportunities to perform

Class format and activities

Exercises will explore:
- advanced tap technique
- musicality, keeping time, mastering rhythm, listening, complicity
- tap improvisation
- presentation, performing, audience

In addition to your dance practice, study can include the use of digital resources such as film & photography, useful websites and connection with online communities of interest via social media to enhance your learning.

Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.

Entry requirements

A good level of fitness. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health concerns or a history of injury, and inform your tutor of any physical activity you have been advised to avoid.

What you need to know before you enrol

A good level of fitness is required to be able to do the practical work. However adjustments will be made to the movements to meet particular physical or learning needs.

Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.

-Tap Shoes

-Loose-fitting comfortable clothing for ease of movement
- Water

What you can do next

There are two courses each term of 5-7weeks. Continue your development by signing up to the next course in Rhythm Tap 4 and enhance your foundations by also attending Rhythm Tap 3. Ask your teacher for other opportunities to learn Rhythm and Musicality at Morley College.
