Pilates Mat Work and Body Conditioning
What you will learn
Fundamental Pilates core strengthening exercises aimed at improving and correcting posture. Taught and worked to gentle music to aid muscle memory development. The aim of Pilates is to re-train the brain to recruit the right muscles to perform each movement. Repeating the same movements slowly in control using the same muscles over and over again will make it a reflex arc and will enhance body conditioning in a range of ways. At this level, a good level of fitness is required. This course will also provide an ideal preparation for Jazz Dance study at Morley, taking place on a Tuesday evening from 19.00.

Taught to gentle music to aid muscle memory, exercises will be repeated to re-train the brain and muscles.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

At this level a good level of fitness is required however adaptations and modifications of exercises will be offered to suit different levels of ability.
What you need to know before you enrol
Students will need a degree of concentration, a reasonable level of fitness and mobility and the ability to work alongside a range of adults.
Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, have any serious health concerns or a history of injury and inform your tutor of any physical activity you have been advised to avoid.
Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.

Comfortable clothing, Leotard, tights, leggings or tracksuit bottoms.
