Introduction to Dance Intensive
What you will learn
This course is an introduction to three major forms of dance. Classes will give you the foundations of Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Increased body awareness and technique
- Developed Movement Vocabulary and Expression
- Developed team work and observation skills
- Developed musicality, isolation and coordination
- Performed a range of travelling sequences and routines, in Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz dance styles
Class format and activities
The class is structured to include a safe warm up, barre and centre exercises to develop technique, strength, flexibility and coordination.
In Ballet you will learn basic barre exercises and centre combination. Contemporary will explore floor and travelling work with an emphasis on flow and release. Jazz dance classes will explore isolation, co-ordination and centre combinations.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular and detailed feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.

What you need to know before you enrol
Learners will be taking part in a range of dance styles that will test their physical ability. Participants will need to have a good level of fitness in order to be able to sustain the course, which is a 3-hour session. The tutor will modify material for those needing to reduce the level of intensity.
What you will need for your class
Leotard, tights, leggings or any other close fitting clothing. Jazz or Ballet shoes or bare feet. (No trainers)
