What you will learn
The BTEC level 3 national certificate in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is designed for students who want to know how to start up a business or social enterprise. The qualification enables students to develop skills to start up and run a fully functioning business and also enables students to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
Students will develop skills to use an enquiring, critical and thoughtful approach to the study of Enterprise. And gain an understanding that businesses can be looked at from a range of perspectives.Studying Enterprise and Entrepreneurship will also give you the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised, vocationally specific qualification. It enables you to understand enterprise and entrepreneurship and to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- Explore the nature of enterprise
- Investigate the motivations for entrepreneurship
- Examine the opportunities and constraints for enterprises and entrepreneurs
- Examine the entrepreneurial skills required to launch an enterprise
Class format and activities
The qualification is delivered over ten weeks from January to June 2019 at ten hours per week.
This qualification consists of two units, both mandatory. These are:
Unit 1: Enterprise and Entrepreneurs
Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign
Unit 1: Enterprise & Entrepreneurs
Learners study enterprise and the mind-set of entrepreneurs, exploring the risks, opportunities and constraints of starting an enterprise.
Unit 2: Developing a Marketing Campaign
Learners will gain skills relating to, and an understanding of, how a marketing campaign is developed. Learners will complete a task that requires them to use their own research to produce a rationale and plan for a marketing campaign for existing products/services.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
- You must be aged 19 or above
- You should have GCSEs in English and maths (grades 4 to 9) or equivalent qualifications.

What you need to know before you enrol
The BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship is a vocational Business course that runs from January to June which forms part of the Peter Jones Academy suite of Courses. It has been designed for students that wish to learn about Enterprise in relation to running a business. Students can benefit from:

What you will need for your class
You will also benefit from access to a laptop or tablet to make notes and undertake Internet research. Any other resources are provided. You should also be able to organise work and complete all coursework to a set deadline.
What you can do next
This BTEC Level 3 will give you the basic foundation to get you started in business, and you will also gain a level 3 qualification with the skills and knowledge and skills for progression to higher education. When studied with other Level 3 qualifications learners can progress into a range Access to HE Diplomas and higher education combined courses including Higher national Diploma courses in Business such as business administration, marketing, accounting, sales or enterprise.
