What you will learn
The Access HE Diploma in Creative Digital Media at Morley College London is run in partnership with the London College of Communication (UAL). Learn both practical skills and theoretical thinking through exciting and challenging projects which cover a wide range of modern digital media technologies - all taught in specialist studios with the latest equipment. In addition to a dedicated digital design studio, we have a well-equipped photography studio with MacBook laptops to support postproduction and design of images. The Access to HE Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification which develops skills and outcomes for a strong, individualised portfolio. Our Access courses are made up of many different types of people coming from many educational backgrounds. You will be supported in your University application, learning how to present your work and understand the variety of career options available within Creative Digital Media.
Class format and activities
combination, to produce exciting work across the following disciplines: Digital Animation, Desktop Publishing, Digital Image manipulation and output, Web Design, Graphic Design; communicating messages with words and images, Photography and filmmaking; including working to a professional brief and location portraiture, branding yourself through digital portfolio building and taking part in an exhibition of your work. You will keep a sketchbook of ideas and inspirations and understand how to store and protect your work digitally. A key part of your daily work will be keeping a blog and social media presence to share your words and images as you develop your work.
You will work independently and in small groups ion briefs, receive regular tutorials and feedback on your work and distance learning projects to help you produce great work. The main units are supported with student skills topics to help you research information, take notes and present your work to others effectively.
In order to ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
In order to participate on this course, you must have an enthusiasm for Digital Media. You must also present a portfolio of work for evaluation at yor interview.
Previous experience in drawing is helpful but not essential. If you are interested in gaining some experience or developing a portfolio before completing an application, you can choose from the following short courses here at Morley College London:

What you need to know before you enrol
Your Access course will be very enjoyable, but also requires real dedication and commitment if you are going to succeed. Your course requires attendance around two and a half days a week. Independent study time is also arranged The course runs from the beginning of September to the end of June. We endeavour to prepare students for the demands of a University degree course in just nine short months. It is therefore essential that you think about how you are going to balance work, family and social life with your studies. You will be expected to do regular work outside of class and sometimes contribute to group projects to hit deadlines . We strive to make the courses as stimulating as possible for everyone, but it does require hard-work and determination on your part.
What you will need for your class
You will ideally own a Digital SLR camera with the capacity to shoot film. While our facilities provide access to IMacs and Macbooks in the studios with the latest in Adobe CC software it is highly recommended that students have a computer of their own and also have the Adobe CC suite installed. As a student of Morley College you are entitled to a 65% discount on the cost of an Adobe CC complete software licence. Other essential kit includes an external memory drive of at least 1TB, sketchbooks and pens etc. You will be given a list of essential equipment at the beginning of the course and regular advice on essential equipment to support your creative work.
What you can do next
The natural progression from this course would be to go onto one of the BA undergraduate study programmes at LCC. As we are working in partnership with LCC on this course, we can guarantee every student that wants to apply, an interview. Alternatively, the Access qualification will enable you to gain enough UCAS points to apply for Higher Education courses at other universities and colleges, as well as specialised short course programmes.
An Access to HE qualification can also open up employment opportunities.
