What you will learn
A two-week improver level ballet course, comprised of four, ninety-minute technique classes. Your study focus will include developing strength, movement vocabulary and musicality.
This course will suit those wishing to challenge capabilities beyond basic skills under professional supervision.
By the end of the course you will be able to
- have increased your flexibility, suppleness and core strength
- have gained precision in your execution of required elements
- have refined existing skills in general ballet technique and challenged own abilities
- revealed expressive performance, not only technique
Class format and activities
What will I be doing in class?
Each session consists of a 90 minute class in soft shoes. The class will improve technique, develop strength and enlarge movement vocabulary. Each element and routine is explained and demonstrated by the tutor, followed by supervised practice and further repetition, coupled with the tutor's corrections and constructive encouragement
Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.
Some knowledge in ballet or other similar dance forms (e.g. contemporary, jazz technique) is recommended.
What you need to know before you enrol
Commitment and full attendance is very important so as to develop good technique and for further progression.
Photography and film recording of class activities may be used in order to aid learning. These images may also be used for publicity or marketing materials produced by Morley College, both online and in print. You will have the opportunity to either confirm or decline consent to being filmed or photographed.

Suitable ballet / dance attire
Soft ballet shoes
A bottle of water for rehydrating
To prevent injury, it is advisable to have warm layers of clothing for warm-up & cool-down
Longer hair should be tied up.
