Richard is a composer, producer, and recording/mixing engineer. He holds a BA Hons in Commercial Music from the University of Westminster and last year he completed a Masters Degree in Composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he studied with orchestrator/composer John Ashton Thomas and composers Errolyn Wallen and Stephen Montague. Most recently, he assisted Hollywood composer Alex Heffes on the remake of the mini-series Roots.
Richard has composed the music for a number of projects, including a documentary by director Stephen Rudder called ‘Sequins, Soca and Sweat’, which went behind the scenes of the Notting Hill Carnival, looking at the small group of artists and designers responsible for continuing the traditions of carnival which started in the West Indies. He has also composed the music for a short film called ‘This is Your History’, which is a permanent fixture in the Sugar and Slavery gallery at the Museum of London Docklands. Richard has also worked on a number of documentaries for the Museum of London leading up to the 2012 Olympics.
As a freelance recording engineer he has worked at a number of studios including Fish Factory Studios, The Pool, The Square, Livingstone Studios and RMS Studio. He has also worked as a live recording engineer for the rapper Akala, at a number of venues including: Cargo, XOYO, the 02 Academy Islington and the Clore Ballroom at the Royal Festival Hall.
