Simon is an artist printmaker specialising in lithography. He studied Fine Art at Exeter College of Art and was awarded a French Government Scholarship to study lithography at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He set up Oaks Editions Lithography Studio, which attracts artists from all over the UK, and even beyond, to participate in courses and work with him to produce their own lithographs. He has taught lithography for many years in art schools, adult education colleges and independent community print workshops. He joined Morley College in 2015.
His work has been selected for many exhibitions including the Bradford Print Biennale, the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal West of England Academy, the National Print Exhibition, the Cleveland International Drawing Biennale, the Morandi Museum, Bologna, Italy, the Lessedra World Art Print Annual Exhibition, Sofia, Bulgaria, the Museum of Modern Art for Wales, the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Print Prize Exhibition, and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and his studio was represented at Impress International Printmaking Festival, Stroud, and most recently the International Lithography Symposium, Tidaholm, Sweden.
His prints are held in collections including the British Library, Cambridge University Library, University of Wales at Aberystwyth, Manchester Metropolitan University Library and Leeds College of Art Library.
