Lydia Evans graduated first from Central St Martins School of Art, (UAL) in 1990 as a post graduate of Illustration, following a BA Hons in Graphic Design at John Moores University, Liverpool. After 10 years as an illustrator and art editor, in 2000 Lydia graduated again from CSM with a Post Graduate Certificate in Photography.
Since then Lydia has been a published photographer of people and locations for editorial features, brochures and books, with clients such as the BBC, Thames & Hudson, Conde Nast and Time Out City guides. Mixing reportage with location lifestyle features, portraiture, and close detail shots, capturing a sense of a place or livelihood. Lydia’s early work was street documentary. This remains an interest in her personal work.
Lydia has a PGCE from the Institute of Education, and has taught at Kensington & Chelsea College, City & Islington Sixth Form College and Morley College, and has some educational experience at LCC.
Having professional experience working as both a graphic artist and magazine art editor in the past, coupled with being a published photographer, Lydia hopes that she can inject invaluable Industrial insights and advice into her teaching practice.
