Anitra was born in New York but moved to Bergen, Norway when she was six. She grew up bilingual, speaking English and Norwegian. At eighteen she moved back to the USA, this time to study at the University of New Orleans (U.N.O) where she mainly studied music and languages. After two years she returned to Norway to study at the University of Bergen. English, Psychology, Social Anthropology and French were the subjects that became a Bachelor’s Degree “plus”.
Before completing her PGCE in secondary education, Anitra combined her studies with work hosting a music programme on the student radio station.
Anitra’s first job in teaching was at "Folkeuniversitetet i Bergen", an adult education college. There she taught Norwegian and English as a Foreign Language. She was soon offered a position at Bergen Katedralskole, one of Norway’s most celebrated Upper Secondary schools that also have an adult education department.
In 2012, Anitra moved to London and got a job teaching Norwegian at Cactus Language Training and later on English at Dagenham Park School before getting her current position as a Norwegian tutor at Morley College.
Anitra’s love of teaching and her outgoing and friendly nature make her classes very educational and enjoyable.
