Anna Silverton is an established ceramicist who has been the Programme Manager for our HND in Ceramics ever since it launched in September 2017. She trained in ceramics at the Camberwell School of Art and also holds a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art. In addition to her practical ceramics experience, she has extensive experience as a ceramics tutor, including 25 years’ experience in Adult and Higher Education.
In addition to managing the Ceramics HND at Morley, Anna has also maintained a ceramics studio in London since the 1990s, having initially received funding from the Crafts Council through a “setting up” grant. Her practice has changed gradually over the years and has ranged from making ceramic vases for the Conran Shop, to her current range of finely thrown one-off porcelain vases and bowls. Her current work can be seen in galleries such as the CAA gallery, Hexagon Classic Design, and the Contemporary Ceramics Centre, and she also exhibits her work at the Crafts Council’s Art Fair, Ceramic Art London.
She is a strong believer in the ethos of lifelong learning, having seen first-hand how Adult Education enriches lives and sees Morley’s move into Higher Education as a potential progression route for all ages.
