Bruce Tanner

Photography Tutor
Bruce Tanner

Bruce Tanner graduated from the University of Westminster in 1992 having completed the part-time degree while working as a freelance photographer. Both before and after his degree, Bruce has been working as an editorial photographer with an extensive range of work from corporate portraits to wildlife books. His work with animals has resulted in 13 books published across four continents.

His interest in issue-based documentary work has led to commissions with leading charities particularly concerned with homelessness. His personal work includes both documentary images as well as fine art photography shot during his travels. Working in both digital and analogue, he designed an app for darkroom workers which has been downloaded across the world.

Bruce has a PGCE from Metropolitan University, London and has taught, most recently, at Tallinn Polytechnic, Estonia. Prior to that, he taught at Kensington and Chelsea College, Tower Hamlets, ILEA as well as community-based centres such as Zoom In and the Blackfriars Photography Project.

As well as a broad experience in a range of subject specialisms stretching from landscape through to street and studio photography, Bruce is able to bring in legal and ethical issues around freelancing from his long experience working.
