Brian was born in Australia in 1962 but has lived and worked in London for many years now. He trained in engineering, graphics and conservation then became a full time artist and teacher in 2005.
He has been a course leader on the Art Foundation at Morley College since 2011 and also teaches a variety of other printmaking courses. Brian wants to enable his students to gain skills, knowledge and expertise but especially to develop a real love and control of the processes involved in printmaking so they become the perfect conduit and outlet for creativity.
Brian’s own practice is predominantly print based but includes painting, drawing, video, and sculpture. He specialises in highly detailed etchings, richly inky drypoints and moody monotypes. He likes to incorporate both amusing and dark scenarios in his work and hopes to encourage the viewer to ponder deeply about their visceral, essential nature and also wonder at the fragility, complexity and beauty of the world we live in and have manufactured around ourselves.
