Kathleen Allen was a painter, muralist and teacher and prior to 1938 she exhibited as Saywell Allen. She was born in London and studied at the Royal College of Art. During the Second World War she was seconded to record the war industries; a bomb in 1941 destroyed her early work. Her works are included in collections in the Imperial War Museum and the Museum of London. Morley Gallery’s inaugural exhibition in 1969 included two oil paintings by Allen, Infra Red Telescope and Bombarding Rays – Infra Red.
