LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA FOR THE EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER
This one year course will introduce you to all aspects of early years practice, from keeping children safe to legislation and theoretical perspectives.
You will study two days per week and can choose between studying at the Kensington Centre (Monday and Tuesday) or the Chelsea Centre (Thursday and Friday).
HOW WILL YOU BE SUPPORTED?
You will have a personal tutor to monitor and support your progress in learning. We always provide full support to students who need extra help in any aspect of their studies, for example to dyslexic students.
If you have not yet completed Maths and/or English to a grade 4 then you will attend this as well, as part of the legal requirement of your study programme. Our experienced Maths and English department will support you in gaining the necessary Level 2 qualifications.
To ensure that you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular feedback from your tutor, in a constructive and supportive environment.
The course is assessed throughout the year. There are 12 assessed assignments. These could be an essay, report, or a presentation or piece of group work to practice what you are learning in the classroom.
NB: Learners will be required to complete 250 hours in placement or work (12 hours or 2 days a week), you need to demonstrate a willingness and competence at assistant level in work with babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, and you will be supported in achieving this.
BY THE END OF THE COURSE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO
- The course gives you a level 2 qualification which is an assistant role qualification. This means you can work in early years but must be supervised at all times.
- You can then apply to study on the level 3 course.
