Tom Hatton
- Course Studied:
- Drama
Tom Hatton, a former Morley drama student, has successfully become a globally recognised professional actor after a move stateside. After starting his acting training at Morley with tutor Craig Snelling, he moved to New York to pursue his acting dream and find fame.
Since his move he has appeared in Law and Order and Life on Mars, as well as become the face of a successful billboard campaign for ‘Dentyne’. He is also the host of Sony’s weekly TV show ‘In The Qube’, which airs in 60 countries and pioneers new technology on TV and New Media.
After completing his training he began to help out behind the scenes at the Old Vic Theatre, something made possible by Morley’s great connections with the Old Vic. It was there he met Artistic Director Kevin Spacey who encouraged him to follow his acting dreams and inspired him to follow his passion, which led to his move to New York where he took further acting training.
“I was attracted by the buzz around the drama department. The approach at Morley didn't seem governed by the pursuit towards fleeting fame and superficial success; there was a genuine feeling of acceptance and a firm grounding within the arts.
It was also through the Morley connection that I had the benefit of meeting the Artistic Director of the Old Vic, Kevin Spacey. We discussed his training and he inspired me to further develop as an actor.
Without the window of opportunity allowed to me at Morley, I probably wouldn't have gained the confidence to move off the well trodden corporate path that was laid out before me. It provided a channel to pursue spiritual richness, instead of solely focusing on economic richness”
