How you can give your views to the College
This ‘map' gives you the ways in which you, as a student, can make your views known to the college. That is, ranging from academic appeals, to course assessment by students, to representing students' views, to reporting faults in the building. Also watch out for posters giving details of the Principal's next surgery.
As the map implies, before you follow the more formal of the procedures, you may find it effective to raise a concern with your tutor first or with a class representative or a member of the Student Executive Committee.
Your concern |
College procedure |
How to use the procedure |
|---|---|---|
| Specific concerns or suggestions about any aspect of the College (generally not individual) | Class Representatives Association | Your class should have a representative, who puts class members' concerns and suggestions to the Principal at the termly meetings of the representatives. |
| To complain on your own behalf | Student Complaints Procedure | If you cannot resolve a problem by speaking to your tutor, there is a formal complaints procedure. Ask for a copy of the procedure at the enrolment desk. |
| Evaluate your course | Course Evaluation Form (distributed to your class by your course tutor) | The college asks you to complete an evaluation form for each of the courses you take (mid- and end- course). |
| Examination procedures, or results, or assessment | Academic Appeals | Ask your tutor how to make your appeal, which should go to the Director of Studies. |
| Represent students' views to the college's management | Student Executive Committee | The recognised body for representing students' views. See SEC contact details above. |
| Report building or equipment defects/ hazards | Fault Report Form HS1.8 (available around the college) | If you see any defect or hazard, report it on the form and hand the form to the guard at the security desk, or report it to a staff member. |
