Competition success for Morley photography students
Congratulations are due to a number of Morley photography students who have been selected as prizewinners and runners-up in the 2011 City & Guilds Student Photography Competition.
The competition, which is held annually, is open to all students currently undertaking City & Guilds Photography Qualifications. This year the competition attracted over 700 entries from across the UK, from which a total of nine prizewinners and 26 runners-up were selected.
Karina Immanuel, currently on the C&G Photography: Photo Imaging Level 2 course at Morley, claimed second prize in the Level 2 category for her portrait of of a male dancer (pictured above).
She says: "For my first project I covered dancers at Pineapple Dance Studios and this particular dancer captured my attention. He was very professional and passionate about dance and it showed in every dance move. I was very fortunate to capture just a little bit of the way he expressed himself through dance".
Alexa Wilding, currently on the C&G Photography: Photo Imaging Level 3, won first prize in the Level 3 category with her image of a model with flowers.
Andy Fyles, Angela Godwin and Kate Rowley were all named runners-up.
All the winning and runners-up entires will be featured in a special exhibition taking place in Morley College's very own gallery in September this year. For further information about the exhibition please visit our Gallery listings.
