Sculpture students Jean E Hill and Clare Roels recently exhibited their unique artwork made from recycled bicycles at Hackney’s Rosemary Branch Theatre.

Jean E Hill and Clare Roels met while studying sculpture at Morley College in 2009. They decided to collaborate following a suggestion from their sculpture tutor Julian Wild, who had noticed that they were both working with bicycle parts. Currently on the Exploring Sculpture: Beginners & Intermediate course, the pair are planning more exhibitions soon.

The exhibition "simply wouldn’t have happened without Julian" admitted Clare, who is also taking Sculpture: Developing your practice. "He gave us the impetus, push and self-confidence to do it".

Friends of the Earth member Jean is keen to recycle and all of the old bicycles used in the duo’s artworks were supplied by London Fields Cycles and BikeYardEast.

The 'Looking Round' exhibition was held at Rosemary Branch Theatre on Tuesday 18 September. You can see photos from the exhibition on Clare and Jean’s website.
