Humanities

At Morley we are on the doorstep of some of the world’s most renowned museums and theatres, ideally located to offer cultural enhancement at all levels. Whether you want to take up writing or get to grips with the society we live in, our classes aim to progress your development in a friendly and vibrant environment.

Our programme seeks to provide a commentary on contemporary developments in the humanities and social sciences. Critical thinkers can enjoy a range of subjects including politics, philosophy, psychology and literature, while our creative writing and poetry courses can offer budding writers the opportunity to refine and gain confidence in their writing skills, and even move towards publishing their work.

Our media, journalism and radio courses give a great introduction to modern media, while classes in film & theatre studies offer in-depth study of film genres and directors.

Many of our courses also form a valuable platform for those considering further study at higher education level. Our one-year Access to HE Diplomas are specifically designed to help prepare students for university, with a choice of humanities, social science, social work and media studies pathways to choose from.

We also publish the Morley Review, an annual publication celebrating the intellectual life of the Humanities department and Morley in general.
