Drama information
We offer courses at a range of levels, with both accredited and non-accredited pathways.
The three main courses in actor training are Acting: An Introduction, Developing Acting Skills and Acting Studio. These are structured to enable you to develop your acting skills from beginner to advanced, and also allow you to work towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification – see Accredited courses below.
If you wish to improve your presentation and public speaking skills you enrol on one of our hugely popular public speaking courses, aimed at boosting your confidence, body language, voice projection and assertiveness.
Throughout the academic year there are specialist short courses across a wide number of areas, including Shakespeare, Directing, Acting for Camera, Confidence through Acting and many more.
Our Summer School also runs a range of ‘taster’ sessions where you can meet the tutors and sample some of the methods and exercises taught on the main courses – or just come along, meet new friends and enjoy yourself. You may also wish to study on our Sunday programme - full of exciting ‘one off’ sessions and short intensive courses running over two weekends.
There is also the opportunity for learners with disabilities to join our Acting & Performance group.
Class levels
Some of our classes are separated into levels to enable you to progress from beginner to advanced at your own pace.
- Introduction courses are tailored specifically for those who are new or returning to drama
- Level 2 courses are for those with basic level acting skills and the committment to progress further
- Level 2 & 3 courses are aimed at those with more experience and expertise.
If you’re unsure which level would be best for you and would like some advice, come along one of our open days or drop-in sessions, or give us a call. Level 2 & 3 courses will need tutor approval before enrolling, and some may also require you to audition.
Accredited courses
The majority of our Developing Acting Skills and Acting Studio courses are accredited by the Open College Network London Region (OCNLR), allowing you to gain a nationally recognised qualification on successful completion. The fees for these courses include an end of term tutorial, but please note that there will be an additional fee for OCNLR regisitration. This fee varies depending on the credit value of the course (anywhere between £12 - £100) and is payable at the time of examination entries, usually by the end of April of the examination year.
